KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar set for Solihull

KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar will open a site in Solihull this April taking its total number of premium casual restaurants up to four.

Located on the former site of a Café Rouge, the restaurant will have 70-covers inside and a 25-cover terrace. 

Designed with ‘a vision to transport guests to the streets of Tokyo’, KIBOU Solihull will feature the brand’s trademark frieze panel murals and projector animations against a backdrop of Japanese block print textiles and wallcoverings. 

Other design elements will include a standalone marble bar, neon signage and an open sushi seating surrounded by bar stools. 

The menu at KIBOU Solihull will be focused on the group’s signature sushi rolls, including the volcano roll (salmon, avocado and tobiko futomaki, tempura fried and KIBOU house sauce) alongside more traditional dishes such as hand-pressed nigiri and sashimi.

Other options will include ramen, tempura, bao buns and gyoza. The menu will also feature an extended vegan offering and ‘moriawase’ sharing platters designed to help guests explore Japanese cuisine. 

“The new site will be headed up by accomplished general manager, Justin Davies, who currently co-manages our flagship site in Cheltenham and is extremely well-positioned to oversee the launch and recruit a local team around him,” says operation director Sam Horswill.

“We’re very much looking forward to bringing our vibrant and contemporary slice of Japan to the West Midlands and to being part of the bustling and historic town of Solihull.”

KIBOU Japanese Kitchen & Bar says that further acquisitions are earmarked for the next 12 months, and a sustained period of growth planned over the next five years.

The group was founded in August 2019 by former Regent Inns CEO David Franks following his acquisition of KIBOUSushi in Cheltenham (pictured). The brand has since opened sites in Bristol and Battersea.
