Currently City-based Turkish restaurant group Haz is to make its West End debut following the acquisition of the former 28-50 Wine Bar & Kitchen site on Covent Garden’s Upper St Martin’s Lane.

In The Yards development which is also home to a Dishoom, Miscusi and a Bill’s, the 7,000 sq ft restaurant is expected to launch in early 2022 and will have 150 covers in total.

Haz launched its first restaurant 20 years ago and now operates six restaurants within The City.

Built on ‘the vast experience and passion of the brand’s three Turkish founders’, Haz takes  inspiration from 'ancient Turkish cooking techniques and celebrates Mediterranean flavours'.

“As three Turkish men in the UK, we found ourselves unable to find traditional food from our homeland in London and set about to be the first truly authentic Turkish restaurant in the capital," says director Zafer Cicek.

“Two decades later, we have established ourselves as a warm and inviting restaurant providing brilliant authentic Mediterranean cuisine. We have always been keen to open a site in central London and had not found anything quite right up until now.

“The Yards offers us the perfect location and space, all with the added bonus of being alongside other like-minded brands in this exciting new food destination.”

The Yards is owned by Longmartin Properties, a joint venture between Shaftesbury and the Mercers’ Company.

CBRE is the asset manager on behalf of Longmartin Properties and Colliers and DCL acted for The Yards. Haz represented themselves.
