The Real Greek will open its first northern site next week at Manchester’s Corn Exchange.

The 200-cover site - 130 inside, 35 in the covered forecourt and 35 alfresco - will be the Fulham Shore-owned group’s 22nd site; its ninth outlet outside of the capital and third new restaurant to open this year.

The Real Greek offers diners ‘a contemporary Aegean experience’, that capture the ‘Greek passion for freshness, family, food, and life’.

The brand says it sources many of its core product from Greece, with the menu’s creative direction led by celebrity chef Tonia Buxton.

The Real Greek was founded in 1999 by chef Theodore Kyriakou and acquired by Clapham House in 2004, which was at the time overseen by Fulham Shore chairman David Page.

“Manchester is a popular and buzzing city with a trendy food and drink scene, so we’re delighted to now have a presence, offering our authentic Greek food to a new clientele,” says The Real Greek managing director Nabil Mankarious.

“We’ve been very fortunate to continue to thrive, with a sustained demand for our business, and being able to continue to open more sites across the country”.

Fulham Shore, which also owns pizzeria chain Franco Manca, has recovered strongly following the pandemic.

Earlier this year, it reported that it had seen total revenues reach more than £39m for the half year to 26 September 2021, compared to £36m achieved in the comparable period in 2019.
