Richard Corrigan is looking to expand his restaurant empire in the capital with the opening of a restaurant at canal-side development Hawley Wharf Camden.

The chef/restaurateur told the Irish Independent that work was currently under way on the as yet unnamed restaurant.

“I am up to my eyes with designers, builders, for my new place in Hawley Wharf in Camden Basin,” he said. “That whole area of Camden was a bit of a tourist hole. Now it has become another London hub, like Shoreditch was in the 1990s.”

According to the paper, the restaurant is being designed by the architects who built Soho House in Berlin. It will have two rooftop areas seating120 seats as well as space for a further 50 covers on the terrace.

“We don’t want to be too up our own bottoms,” he said. “It is all about great food – bakery, smokery, craft beers – and it is going to be something really very special.”

Hawley Wharf is a 580,000sq ft mixed-use development that is home to a Curzon cinema as well as a number of restaurant brands, including sweet and savoury steamed buns specialist Bun House, farm-to-table grill Mikos Gyros; Greek dessert brand Stilvi; and Italian grab-and-go concept A’do’re Fritto.

Corrigan currently runs Corrigan’s Mayfair and Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Piccadilly and Corrigan and most recently joined forces with Tony Gibney and John Nugent to open Daffodil Mulligan in November 2019 on the site previously occupied by Irish chef Niall Davidson’s Nuala.
