Matt Worswick has announced his departure from the Savoy Grill having spent just one year at the London restaurant.

Making the announcement on Twitter over the weekend, the chef said: So my journey has come to an end at the Savoy. I’d like to thank all the staff past and present for all their hard work and dedication. I'd like to wish [Gordon Ramsay] all the very best and continued success for the future [at the Savoy Grill]."

The restaurant is yet to announce its replacement.

Worswick joined the Ramsay-run restaurant, located at the Savoy hotel, in September last year having left his previous role as executive chef at The Shanghai EDITION hotel during the Coronavirus pandemic. Following that he joined take out delivery concept Cook + Thief, where he was chef director.

Before moving to Shanghai, Worswick was head chef at The Latymer at Pennyhill Park, where he worked for four years. His CV also includes time as executive head chef at Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa in the Wirral and as head chef at Michelin-starred Glenapp Castle in Ballantrae, Girvan.

He began his career at St. Martins-on-the-Isle on The Isles of Scilly in 2005, where he spent four formative years before becoming sous chef at David Everritt-Matthias’ then two- Michelin starred restaurant Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham, where he worked two years.

He reached the finals short-list as champion of the North West on BBC's Great British Menu
