McDonald’s drops its Chicken Legend for delivery as it is again hit by supply issues
The fast-food chain initially said that supply chain issues were ‘impacting the availability’ of its chicken burger and that it was working hard to return the item to the menu as soon as possible, reported the Mail Online.
McDonald’s later issued a statement stating that it should be available in restaurants but just not for delivery.
“Like most retailers, we are currently experiencing some supply chain issues. This is impacting the availability of the Chicken Legend, so we have made the decision to remove this product from our delivery menu across the UK and Ireland in the short term,” says a company spokesperson.
It is not the first time that the company has been forced to remove items from its menus as a result of supply chain issues. In August it made national headlines after having to temporarily take its milkshakes off the menu at 1,250 restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales, with bottled drinks also affected.
Hospitality businesses nationwide have been impacted by the lack of HGV drivers, as well as congestion at global trading ports and the new post-Brexit trading an immigration rules, leading to shortages or delay of some products or ingredients.
Earlier this month Burger King was understood to be grappling with a shortage of fry bags for its chops, and had, until recently, been experiencing shortages of plastic cup lids. There have even been reports of customers taking their own salt to venues such as Wetherspoons, due to a shortage of salt sachets.
