Chef Stuart Gillies will open a second restaurant with his wife Cecilia at the start of next year, in the Kent town of Sevenoaks.

The former Gordon Ramsay Group CEO will open Number Eight in January following on from the success of Bank House, which opened in Chislehurst in 2019.

The restaurant will be located in a 16th century corner venue with a courtyard terrace with interior features such as solid oak parquet flooring, banquet seating, gold rimmed lampshades and a raised marble-topped bar.

It will also have a 16-cover private dining space called The Gallery that will double as a space to showcase young up and coming artists.

The menu will reflect Gillies’ career as having worked in restaurants in Stockholm, Rome, New York and London with dishes including whipped cod’s roe with hazelnuts, green beans and homemade focaccia; truffled artichokes with creme fraiche dressing and mache salad; buttermilk chicken, bbq sauce, blue cheese shavings (pictured below); confit leg of Goosnargh duck, roasted ceps, cavolo nero, garlic fried potatoes; Rye Bay monkfish curry; roasted loin of Chart Farm venison, swede mash, sour cherry, chocolate sauce; and fettucine of Dorset crab with chilli, spring onions, garlic.

“Cecilia and I are so excited to bring Number Eight to Sevenoaks.  The opening of Bank House in Chislehurst in 2019 has given us the perfect launch pad from which to integrate ourselves further into the local community” says Gillies.

“Sevenoaks is such a vibrant town full of incredible independent operators, we can’t wait to be part of it all, sharing our passion for good honest food and great wine with locals and visitors alike.”
