Hawksmoor has announced that its first new London restaurant for four years will open in Canary Wharf on 25 November.

The new restaurant will be the steakhouse group’s largest to date and will be home to what it describes as its ‘most ambitious bar to date’.

Located on a floating pavilion in Wood Wharf, Hawksmoor Wood Wharf seats 160 in the restaurant with a further 22 in an upstairs private dining room (PDR) as well as 120 in The Lowback bar and 60 al fresco across two waterside terraces.

The Lowback, which takes it names from a vehicle helping to launch and guide small boats (literally built to push the boat out) will serve a brand-new cocktail list thats is the result of almost two years’ work by Hawksmoor’s head of drinks Liam Davy and New York bar manager Adam Montgomerie.

The restaurant and bar are said to take their inspiration from the launch of their New York restaurant a few months ago as well and the Golden Age of Travel.

Interior features of the five-metre double-height dining space will include green leather banquette seating, a marble-topped bar and bespoke chandeliers created using holophane lamps reclaimed from the Packard Automotive plant in Detroit. The PDR will be named and decorated in honour of local Isle of Dogs singer and actress Queenie Watts.

Canary Wharf will also be home to a new M restaurant, which will open in the 220-metre residential skyscraper known as the Diamond Tower next spring.
