Three-star Swedish chef Björn Frantzén is to make his UK debut next year with a restaurant in Harrods.

Frantzén is one of the world’s most decorated chefs, running a total of seven restaurants in Sweden and Asia.

In Stockholm, his flagship restaurant Frantzén was named the sixth best restaurant in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants earlier this week and holds three Michelin stars, and his Zén restaurant in Singapore also holds three stars.

Scheduled to open in late 2022, the partnership is being billed as a ‘monumental development in Harrods restaurant agenda’ with the restaurant to be located in a ‘state-of-the-art flagship restaurant’ in a prime location within the Knightsbridge store.

It is not clear at what level the restaurant will be pitched, with Frantzén currently running a number of more casual restaurants alongside his three-star restaurants.

Further information on the Harrods and Björn Frantzén partnership will be announced in 2022.

“I worked in England early on my career and really got a feel for, in my opinion, one of the most interesting cities in the world, so it feels right to be coming back to open in London."

"Over the past few years there have been several projects and opportunities arise in London, but none have felt right until now. It is an honour to be opening at Harrods as one of the most celebrated institutions in the world,” says Frantzén.

“At Harrods, we have been developing an impressive portfolio of locally and internationally acclaimed chefs, and welcoming Björn Frantzén - recognised as one of the world’s greatest chefs - into Harrods is a monumental next step," says Ashley Saxton, general manager of restaurants at Harrods.

"Harrods is a culinary destination that offers something for every customer, whether that is an experience in the historical Dining Hall or at one of our exclusive restaurant venues. For us now to be bringing the creativity and culinary innovation of Björn Frantzén’s to our guests is hugely exciting."
