Polish restaurant operator North Fish has finally netted its first site in the UK having first mooted a move to these shores more than three years ago.

The group has opened its 46th restaurant and first in the UK at Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre in what it says is the beginning of expansion across the England, Scotland and Wales.

The quick service fish-focused chain began life in Poland in 2002 and is inspired by Scandinavian fish restaurants. Its menu includes dishes such as grilled and breaded fish such as Norwegian salmon, Atlantic cod, tuna, plaice, pollock, haddock, as well as burgers in a beer dough bun; and crispy tortillas with salmon, tuna and halloumi cheese; breaded shrimp and squid, and soups.

The restaurant group announced back in early 2018 that it had appointed property agent Savills to search for its first UK locations.

“When I joined North Fish almost 6 years ago, from the very beginning I wanted to bring this wonderful brand, with awesome food and great value for the money, to London,” says Szymon Adamczuk, chief executive officer at North Food Group.

“Almost three years of a very hard work, lots of sacrifices, but the final effect exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t be more proud, 100% Polish brand in the best shopping mall in Europe.”

The company had initially secured a site in Birmingham’s Bullring shopping centre for its UK debut but the deal fell through.
