Tim Allen's first ‘truly solo’ venture to launch in early November
sō-lō launched this summer as a pop-up at Ardfin golf course and country club on the Scottish island of Jura serving a high-end, produce-driven menu.
The permanent iteration of the sō-lō - its title a reference to it being the first Allen has launched on his own - will be based just down the road from Mark Birchall’s Moor Hall, which is currently ranked number one on our list of the top 100 restaurants in the UK.
On Town Green Lane, sō-lō will be located in the site that was once home to Seafood Pub Company's Wine Bar, which closed as a result of the pandemic.
The restaurant is expected to have 40 covers inside and a similar number outside and will serve informal modern British cuisine with influences from around the world and from the chef’s classical training, according to LancsLive.
Allen has headed a number of top restaurant kitchens including Launceston Place in London, The Wild Rabbit in Oxfordshire and The Flitch of Bacon in Essex, which all won Michelin stars under his tenure.
Born in Yorkshire, Allen’s CV also includes senior roles with Martin Burge at Whatley Manor and with Daniel Clifford at Midsummer House.
Allen was most recently at Little Dunmore’s The Flitch of Bacon (then called Tim Allen’s Flitch of Bacon) but left in 2020 having held a Michelin star for two years.
