London-based Italian delicatessen and pasta restaurant brand Lina Stores is to make its City debut, opening on the Bloomberg Arcade site previously occupied by Andrew Wong's Kym's.

Signage for the restaurant has already been erected (see picture below), and a refurbishment of the site is currently underway.

Earlier this week, BigHospitality revealed that Lina Stores was also set to make a move into the London suburbs, having taken over the Clapham sites previously home to Robin Gill's influential Clapham restaurants The Dairy and Counter Culture.

The forthcoming openings in the City and Clapham signal a marked acceleration of the group's growth plans.

Lina Stores is backed by Chris Miller’s White Rabbit Projects, which was also the chief investor in Kym's.

The group started life as a deli on Brewer Street in Soho back in 1944, and only moved into the restaurant space in the last five years after securing finances from White Rabbit and appointing chef Masha Rener to help develop the menu.

Its first restaurant opened on Greek Street in Soho in 2018, and was followed just over a year later with a huge second site in King's Cross.

Last month Lina Stores also launched its first overseas location in Tokyo.

Wong, who was crowned Chef of the Year at last month's Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, announced the closure of Kym's in September last year, the restaurant having only opened two years earlier.
