Chantelle Nicholson is to close her Covent Garden restaurant Tredwells after seven years amid plans for a new restaurant project next year.

The sustainability-focused restaurant, which launched in 2014, will close on 24 September.

Nicholson opened Tredwells as part of the Marcus Wareing group of restaurants in an operations role in 2014 and became sole of owner of the business in 2018.

“We will be closing the doors at Tredwells with fond memories and a great sense of achievement,” says Nicholson.

“The last seven years have been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the people who have been part of it, as well as the guests who enjoyed our hospitality.

“My team and I are excited for our next chapter.”

Details of Nicholson’s new restaurant, due to open in early 2022, are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Speaking to BigHospitality last year, Nicholson said she wanted to relocate Tredwells to a more neighbourhood London location and reopen it as a more multi-functional space, although it is not yet known whether this will be the new restaurant being planned.

“I’ve been looking to move at since the end of last year. It has a very masculine kind of design, it is very Marcus, and for the long term I want something that is more me to be able to drive things forward,” she said.

All’s Well, the pop-up restaurant that Nicholson opened in Hackney at the end of last year, closed its doors last month having extended its run from the initial three-month plan.
