Plant-based food restaurant Mildreds will unveil a new restaurant brand in the capital this autumn.

Called Mallow, it will open in Borough Market, opposite Southwark Cathedral, serving a 100% plant-based menu.

Split over two floors the new restaurant will have a focus on sustainability and limiting wastage as well as seasonality and provenance with dishes that will feature produce directly from Borough Market traders as daily specials. Head of food development for Mildreds Sarah Wasserman will oversee the menu.

It will be open from early morning with a plant-based breakfast offer until the evening and will serve a range of vegan wines, beers and cocktails alongside the food menu.

“We can’t wait to bring the new mallow concept to Borough Market, we’re excited to join its fantastic community of traders and restaurants who have made the market an iconic food destination across London’s food scene,” says Mildreds managing director Sam Anstey.

“We hope to bring a truly unique dining experience to the area, with Mildreds’ famous 100% plant-based offering on an elevated scale, whilst incorporating produce from Borough Market traders where possible.”

Mildreds was founded in 1988 on Soho’s Greek Street by Jane Muir and Diane Thomas. It operates four restaurants in London under the Mildreds brand in Soho, Camden, King’s Cross and Dalston.
