Gordon Ramsay will open second restaurant in London’s The Savoy hotel next month.

The River Restaurant is understood to be replacing Kasper's and will be located in the heart of the hotel, operating alongside Ramsay's Savoy Grill restaurant with executive chef Matt Worswick overseeing both sites.

Seafood will be central to the menu with dishes set to include tandoori monkfish curry; swordfish schnitzel; and whole baked Cornish turbot.

A raw bar will also feature serving plates of fresh oysters; caviar; and seabass ceviche with blood orange and fennel.

"The UK has some of the finest shellfish and seafood in the word and I’m delighted we are going to showcase this amazing produce and support the hard-working providers too," says Ramsay.

“I absolutely love The Savoy. I never tire of walking across the historic Strand forecourt, through the revolving doors and into the stunning hotel lobby.

"It was a dream come true to take over the Savoy Grill 18 years ago, so to be trusted with a second restaurant in the heart of this incredible location is an absolute honour."

Set to overlook the Thames, The River Restaurant is currently undergoing a renovation that will blend the hotel’s architecture with a new polished interior designed by Russell Sage.

“We’re really excited to play host to the next outpost in Gordon Ramsay’s collection of spectacular restaurants and to extend our collaboration with him," says Franck X Arnold, managing director at The Savoy.

"I have no doubt that The River Restaurant will become a destination for lovers of great food world-over and a welcome addition to our culinary choices for our guests.

"The design is beautiful and having enjoyed tasting the menus to come I know the dining will be quite delicious.

"Gordon is the most celebrated chef of his generation and leads a wonderfully talented team, just as revolutionary chef Auguste Escoffier did back in his time at The Savoy. So this next step in our future reflects our past and our ever-present desire to innovate and work with the best of the best.

"We can’t wait for it to open.”

It comes as Ramsay's restaurant group continues to grow its presence in the casual dining space, with the first opening under its new Bread Street Café brand set to launch today (23 August) in Ealing.

The group’s Street Burger concept has expanded at pace this year with recent new openings in Islington and within The O2's main Entertainment District; while its Street Pizza concept now has sites in St Paul’s Camden, Southwark and Battersea.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants recently appointed former Leon heavyweight Antony Perring as chief financial officer (CFO) to help drive its ambitious expansion strategy
