Nisha Katona has confirmed she is bringing Mowgli to the capital, launching on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia in October.

In an Instagram post, Katona said bringing her primarily northern-based Indian street food group to London is an opportunity 'beyond her wildest dreams'.

She said: "It is with grateful hearts that we open Mowgli London at 5 Charlotte Street Fitzrovia in October.

"It’s a street that I have dined upon and been fond of all my life. It is beyond my wildest dreams that we have this opportunity to open, heads down and humbly, in a sweet little building that feels like it was always Mowgli."

Katona first hinted about a move to the capital last month.

It forms part of a wider expansion drive that will see Mowgli aim to build a steady pipeline of four new openings per year.

A former barrister, Katona launched Mowgli in Liverpool in 2014.

The group currently operates 12 restaurants across the country, most recently opening a site in Cheshire Oaks.

A further launch in Cheltenham is planned for this month.

Other cities currently being considered by Katona to expand to include Edinburgh, Brighton and Preston.

Mowgli has been on the expansion trail since securing a £3.45m backing from private equity company Foresight Group in 2017.

Shelley Sandzer acted for Mowgli to secure the London site, which was previously occupied by Côte Brasserie.
