Josh Bowles and Dan Howells have launched a sustainability-focused bar, restaurant and community studios within the Hackney Wick site that was once home to Stour Space Cafe & Bar.

Named after the amount of time that’s left on the lease, Two More Years can accommodate up to 300 guests and is set across three floors.

The food offering will be overseen by Burger and Beyond, which operates a restaurant in Shoreditch alongside a number of street food and dark kitchen operations.

Available alongside natural and biodynamic wines and beer from Purity Brewing Company, the menu will include the likes of Bacon Butter Burger, the Krispie Fried Chicken Burger and a Vegan Mushroom Raclette Burger.

Bowles co-founded zero-waste restaurant Silo, also in Hackney Wick, with chef Douglas McMaster in 2019.

Howells has worked mainly in nightclubs and has a CV that includes XOYO, Phonox and Crate Brewery.

The pair met seven years ago whilst working for The Columbo Group.

“Sustainability isn’t just about recycling, but widening the lens to look beyond that; a part of this is creating good jobs and contributing to economic growth, which starts with an organised and efficient business operation and a dedication to people," says Bowles.

"We believe in putting people at the centre of everything we do; we empower and engage through equitable, tangible benefits – our minimum starting salary is over and above the recommended London Living Wage – and we know that our team are vital in facilitating the memorable experiences that we want our guests to have."

We want to enhance our visitors’ experiences through the knowledge that they’re minimising environmental impacts while supporting a company whose ethos is a force for good. Our aim is for Two More Years to be known as a genuine and friendly venue, renowned for our delicious and sustainable food, tasty drinks and a fun, lively atmosphere that brings the weekend party vibes and for it to once again, become a vital part of the fabric of Hackney Wick.”
