Singaporean restaurateur Ellen Chew is bringing her fledgling Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen concept to the capital having secured a site at Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush.

Opening in the August, the outlet will be located on Westfield's Balcony food court.

It follows the launch of the Chinses-focused brand's debut site within Hammerson's Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham late last year.

Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen serves a halal menu that specialises in 'simple and authentic Chinese dishes from time-honoured recipes using the freshest ingredients'.

It includes dry-aged Canton roast duck; slow-cooked nyonya curry; spicy dan dan noodles; and spring onion noodles with crispy aromatic tofu.

A wide array of dim sum is also available, ranging from prawn dumplings; to 'golden lava' salted egg buns.

“We have an ambitious desire to create truly original flavours, and to redefine the classic Chinese food experience that is prepared using the freshest ingredients sourced locally”, says Chew

“Mrs Chew's Chinese Kitchen offers a distinctly unique experience and challenges the perceptions of authentic Chinese cuisine that is also Halal.”

Chew, who is known for founding Chinatown’s Malaysian and Singaporean restaurant Rasa Sayang, operates Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen under her eponymous Chew On This Group, which has a portfolio that also includes Shan Shui and Simply Noodles in Bicester Village; Lotus Leaf in Westfield Stratford; Arôme Bakery in Covent Garden; and Lobos Tapas in London Bridge and Soho.

BigHospitality revealed earlier this year that Chew plans to bring Shan Shui to the capital having secured a site on Buckingham Palace Road near Victoria station. An opening date is yet to be confirmed.
