Japanese Kitchen & Bar brand KIBOU will open a third restaurant this autumn, in Bristol, as part of its ongoing expansion plans.

Located on King’s Road in Clifton, the 80-cover, two-storey restaurant is due to open at the start of October. It will join KIBOU’s existing venues in London’s Battersea and Cheltenham.

As well as a main dining area the venue will have a lounge area and an open sushi kitchen with high top seating as well as a 20-cover outside terrace. The décor will focus on a range of natural stone, wood and marble finishes with traditional Japanese block print fabrics and neon signage.

KIBOU’s menu will focus on signature sushi rolls as well as dishes such as ramen, katsu curry, tempura, bao buns and gyozas. The venue will also feature a standalone bar serving what is  described as an ambitious selection of Japanese whiskies and sakes as well as Japanese brewed beers, high-balls and signature Japanese-inspired cocktails.

“We’re excited to build upon the legacy of KIBOU and launch our third site in Clifton following the success we’ve received in Battersea and Cheltenham,” says operations director Sam Horswill.

“I’m sure our vibrant and contemporary slice of Japan will go down a storm in Clifton and, with a genuinely special team in place and a concept that has thrived under the toughest of circumstances, we’re confident of future opportunities to grow our small family of restaurants.”

KIBOU was founded in Cheltenham and opened a restaurant in the capital last year, taking on the former Bertie & Boo cafe on Battersea's Northcote Road.
