Operator sought for East Sussex’s Saltdean Lido
There will also be a kiosk to service the 500-capacity pool area and scope for an additional smaller space for an evening restaurant operation or pop up dining space.
Just to the east of Brighton, the impressive Grade II-listed lido is in the midst of a £10m restoration project and features a community centre, public library and open-air swimming-pool.
Footfall of upwards of 50,000 customers a year is expected, including users of the pool - which is already open - a gym, library and co-working space.
Works are currently underway, meaning that the chosen operator would have input into the configuration of the hospitality spaces.
The lido is seeking a local or national operator that can deliver high-quality F&B with a focus on serving local produce.
The chosen operator will need to work closely with Saltdean Lido to accommodate the requirements of the community use aspects of the building and will also need to be sensitive to the values and aesthetics of the Saltdean Lido Trust.
Terms are flexible, but will likely include a sliding scale of commission as the business grows.
“This is an exciting opportunity for a local or national caterer to become involved with Saltdean Lido at this key time in the project. We welcome ideas and creative proposals,” says chairman Derek Leaver.
The completed complex is due to open early in 2023. Interested operators should contact Leaver here.
