Called The Duchess of Dalston, the neighbourhood bar will be located on Kingsland Road and is named after the antagonist to the Queen of Hearts in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Opening in early July it will have a capacity for up to 70 covers and will feature booth seating as well as stools at the bar.
The drinks programme is being led by former Mahiki and Callooh Callay bartender Nazarath Rodriguez with signature drinks infused with home grown herbs from the venue's flat roof as well as locally sourced ingredients from Ridley Road Market, and honey from Bermondsey Street Bees.
The drinks menu will consist of up to 12 drinks at any one time, all priced at £12 each.
The venue will also serve and a selection of small plates and brunch dishes served on Saturdays and Sundays from a soon-to-be-announced food residency menu that can be ordered via Deliveroo alongside a selection of cocktails available in 250ml and 500ml serves.
“In creating The Duchess of Dalston, we’ve embraced the resources and the history of the Dalston area itself, whilst also bringing our own touch of personality and experience into the drinks menu,” says Callooh Callay founder Richard Wynne.
“The result is a neighbourhood cocktail bar full of culture that perfectly complements the surrounding area and provides a welcome and friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome”
