Andina to launch Spitalfields Peruvian restaurant
Peruvian restaurant brand Andina has confirmed it will re-launch in its new Spitalfields home on 19 May.

Commercial Street just down from Spitalfields Market, the new space is much larger than its original Shoreditch site, which was forced to close due to the pandemic.

The new site has 80-covers in the main restaurant and pisco bar space, and a further 30 seats downstairs in Bar Mistura, a late night cocktail bar and taqueria that’s set to launch in June.

The menu at Andina Spitalfields comes courtesy of head chef Bruno Moura and his team, and will pay homage to the restaurant’s Andean roots, offering ceviches including yana tuna ceviche (fresh tuna, rocoto chilli tiger’s milk, pickled pineapple, samphire radish and pickled onion); and Don Ceviche (fresh sea bass ceviche with avocado, amarillo chilli tiger’s milk, sweet potato and red onion).

New vegan dishes include a ‘Proper Vegan Burger’ with sweet potato ketchup, avocado, pickled red onions and carrot bacon; and BBQ pulled jackfruit with avocado smash, chipotle carrot cheese, spring onion, coriander, panca chilli and cassava shards.

The weekend brunch menu will include an ‘all-in’ option, offering guests the choice of one signature ceviche, one brunch dish and a dessert, for an ‘all-in’ price of £21 per person, complete pisco sours for just £5.00 for the duration of their brunch.

The interiors at the new site will retain many familiar elements of its previous Redchurch Street home - which is set to become a Bao - including traditional Peruvian ‘quipus’ wall art, that represents the food from the Andes, alongside a feature wall displaying original vintage Peruvian and Latin American vinyl records.

“It’s obviously no secret this last year has been an absolute shocker for the whole of the hospitality sector. Having to leave our original home in Shoreditch after seven years was really heartbreaking," says Andina managing director Raquel de Oliveira.

"But finding our new home on Commercial Street in Spitalfields feels like a fresh start for the team and the Andina brand as a whole. The space is much bigger, so we can now serve more of our loyal customers, many of whom have been dining with us from day one and have supported us throughout the pandemic, which is so humbling right now."

Andina and sister brand Ceviche were acquired by Rosa’s Thai Cafe founders Alex and Saiphin Moore last year following a management led buy-out deal.
