Restaurant group A Rule of Tum has launched a crowdfunding campaign to turn its pop-up ramen restaurant Lucky Cat Noodle into a permanent operation.

The 20-cover ramen bar in Worcester opened in November 2020 and pivoted to a takeaway model only during the current England lockdown. The company is now looking to raise £30,000 to upgrade the brand to a full-service restaurant for the summer.

A Rule of Tum operates two restaurants under the Burger Shop brand, in Worcester and Hereford, with the Worcester restaurant occupying one of the railway arches on Cherry Tree Walk. The business has two further arches locations, one the current Lucky Cat Noodle pop-up bar and the other for storage, which it intend to become Lucky Cat Noodle's new home.

As well as renovating the restaurant, the funds will be used to create a new outside space and bar area. Building works on the garden are set for completion by the 12 April 2021 in time for the lifting of outdoor dining restrictions, with the restaurant slated to open fully by June.

“Lucky Cat Noodle is perfect for those looking to try something a little different, a casual style of food that we try to elevate and interpret in new and modern ways,” says Pete Dovaston, head chef and creator of Lucky Cat Noodle.

“In my opinion, there is nothing better than a steaming bowl of ramen, some Japanese fried chicken, and a cold beer...luckily we do all three.”
