Canadian restaurant brand Tim Hortons is continuing with its UK expansion plans with the opening of its first drive-thru restaurant in Yorkshire.

Opening in Sheffield this summer, the new restaurant will be located at Crystal Peaks Village Retail Park and will be able to seat 118 covers. As well as having a drive-thru it will also offer delivery options for the local area following the launch.

The move is part of Tim Hortons’ ambitious plans to create more than 2,000 jobs in England and open a restaurant in every major English town and city by 2022.

The restaurant brand was founded in 1964 by Canadian Ice Hockey player Tim Horton and is known for its coffee and donuts as well as bite-sized donuts called Timbits.  Other options include hot sandwiches and wraps.

“As we continue our expansion across the UK, we knew it was only a matter of time before we found the perfect location to bring our first Tim Hortons drive-thru to Yorkshire,” says Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK.

“We’ve had huge demand to bring the brand to Sheffield and it really excites us to be launching in a city famed for its Ice Hockey and presence within the Elite League.”

Tim Hortons is one of the largest restaurant chains in North America with more than more than 4,700 sites located in Canada, theUS, and around the world. It launched in the UK in June 2017 with a debut restaurant in Glasgow and now operates 27 venues in the UK, including its flagship in Leicester city centre
