Ramsay secures West End site for second Street Burger restaurant
The new 2,070sq ft restaurant, spread over two floors, will be located on Charing Cross Road in London’s West End. It will open in April making use of the restaurant’s outside seating area.
The new venue joins the chef’s debut Street Burger restaurant which launched in St Paul’s in December 2020.
It will serve a menu focusing on seven burgers, with meat, vegetarian and vegan options, including the Hell’s Kitchen burger made with Lake District beef, jalapeno and padron salsa, smoked sriracha sauce and smoked cheese; and the butternut bhaji burger with courgette, masala, mango chutney, coriander and mint yoghurt.
As well as opening new London site, Ramsay is opening a cookery school in Woking, Surrey, later this year alongside the first regional location for Street Burger.
The Gordon Ramsay Academy will open in the autumn on the first floor of a two-storey venue with Street Burger operating on the ground floor.
“Coming from one of this generation’s most revered chefs, there’s no doubting the quality or credentials of Street Burger, and Chef Ramsay’s investment in the industry at this most challenging time is vital,” says Nick Weir, co-managing director at Shelley Sandzer, who acted for Landlord Gascoyne Holdings.
“Charing Cross Road runs right through the heart of London’s West End, and this site therefore needed a really strong brand that could play its role in bringing vibrancy back to the capital. Street Burger will do just that and their signing a vote of confidence in the West End.”
Street Burger is one of two burger brands under the Ramsay brand in the UK, with the chef opening the more upscale Gordon Ramsay Burger in Harrods late last year. The Harrods location is the first for the brand outside of Las Vegas, where it made its debut.
Ramsay is also understood to be opening a third London site for Street Burger on Kensington High Street later this year.
