Prawn on the Farm to return this summer
Expected to re-open in mid-April for the duration of the summer, the 52-cover restaurant will be set up in a similar way to last year offering views of Camel Estuary and will support Cornwall's fish and shellfish industry, which has been hard hit by Brexit.
“It’s been such a journey creating this Cornish seafood al fresco love-affair. Not only the hard work and demands the project itself asked of us, but doing so during the beginning of the pandemic,” says co-owner Katie Toogood.
“When Covid hit, we knew we would need to change tact for the summer and a project that had been in our minds was quickly pushed to the foreground given the safety of people being outdoors. Prawn on the Farm round 2 is going to be bigger, better and more delicious than before.”
Daily changing menus will offer seafood sourced from local day boats alongside seasonal produce grown on site at Padstow Kitchen Garden.
The menu will include large seafood platters and fresh seasonal fish sold by the kilogram including wild bass, grey mullet and the recently re-branded Cornish Sole.
Dishes will include Porthilly oysters (raw or deep fried); courgette flower with crab and ‘nduja; and John Dory with leeks, Marmite and porcini butter.
Katie and Rick Toogood launched their first Prawn on the Lawn fish in Islington in 2013 and have since opened two restaurants in Padstow, a further Prawn on the Lawn and a more intimate bistro called Barnaby's.
