Gordon Ramsay to open cooking academy and Street Burger site in Woking
The Gordon Ramsay Academy will open in the autumn and 'welcome food lovers of all levels and ability to nurture their culinary passions through a vast range of educational, technical and fun courses and training programmes'.
As first reported by Surrey Live, it will takeover the site previously occupied by the Tante Marie Culinary Academy.
While the Academy will operate on the first floor of the Woking site, the ground floor will house Ramsay's first Street Burger restaurant outside of London.
The fledgling concept, which launched its debut site at One New Change in the City of London in December, is modelled on Ramsay's Street Pizza brand, with all burgers priced at £15 and served with seasoned fries and unlimited soft drink.
"I am beyond excited to finally confirm The Gordon Ramsay Academy will be opening in Woking later this year," says Ramsay.
"It has been a long time in the planning and I truly believe, not only will we offer guests of all ages and abilities the chance to learn in what I hope will be fun, relaxed and also really informative classes, but to me this Academy will go even further. I know how important mentors are, how important it is as a professional chef to sharpen your skills, to be guided in your training and to gain valuable work-place experience in a professional kitchen environment.
"Through my network of restaurants and the incredible teams who work with me, I have the ability to offer hands-on, practical, career changing opportunities that will hopefully inspire, motivate and develop a new generation of talented chefs for the future."
It was reported last summer that Ramsay's ambition to 'create a billion-dollar dining proposition' had been undented by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the chef laying out plans to open 50 new UK sites.
In December he opened three new London restaurants in as many days, including his first Street Burger site.
Two more Street Burger locations are also planned to launch in the capital this year on Charing Cross Road and Kensington High Street respectively.
The chef's UK portfolio is concentrated in the capital, and also includes a number of singular, high-end restaurants such as the three Michelin-starred fine-dining flagship Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea; Petrus in Belgravia; and Lucky Cat in Mayfair.
