Hospitality for Heroes, the not-for-profit initiative responsible for providing close to 100,000 meals for the NHS since the start of the pandemic, is to launch a cookbook.

Recipes for Heroes - which will be made available to donors online or in hardback - will raise the funds needed to ensure that Hospitality for Heroes is able to continue to support NHS frontline workers.

Launched in partnership with Project Screen by Prenetics, Recipes for Heroes contains an eclectic mix of more than 20 ‘home-cook suitable’ dishes from some of the UK’s top chefs, including Anna Haugh (Myrtle); Sally Abé (The Harwood Arms); Adam Handling (Frog by Adam Handling); Eduardo Pellicano (Mãos); and Jeremy Chan (Ikoyi).

Anyone that donates £10 or more to Hospitality for Heroes throughout January will receive a copy of the Recipes for Heroes e-book, whilst anyone who donates above £35 will receive a limited edition hardback copy.

The non-profit says a donation of £20 is enough to provide a weeks’ worth of healthy restaurant quality meals to a frontline worker.

Since every individual working as part of the Hospitality for Heroes is a volunteer, 100% of donations go directly to the cause.

Founded by Oli Coles and Amelia Wix in March 2020, Hospitality for Heroes set out to ensure NHS workers across London received an ongoing supply of free, comforting and nutritious meals.

Working with top London restaurants and respective head chefs across London, who gave up their kitchens, teams and time to cook the food - Hospitality for Heroes’ role spanned from recruiting volunteers and restaurants, sourcing produce and packaging, organising the deliveries whilst also raising the necessary funds.

Over the past 10 months, Hospitality for Heroes has distributed NHS meals to 16 hospitals as well as AGE UK and NHS staff based at Pentonville Prison.

As all areas of the UK undergo lockdowns, and Covid cases spike in the capital, demand for these meals is more imperative than ever before, Hospitality for Heroes says.
