Deliveroo to expand to 100 more towns as part of aim to reach two thirds of the UK population
Following a year of significant growth for the company, in which 20,000 new restaurant partners and 36 grocery partners joined its platform, Deliveroo has announced plans to expand its services to a further four million consumers.
It says this will bring the total number of people that could order from its platform to almost two thirds of the entire population of the UK.
New locations being targeted include Yeovil, Bangor (Northern Ireland), East Kilbride, King’s Lynn, Scarborough, Llanelli and Exmouth, while areas including Glasgow and the home counties will see an expanded service.
Alongside its expansion, Deliveroo has also announced plans to more than double the number of Editions sites it operates worldwide, grow its on-demand grocery offer, and roll-out its new ‘Signature’ service, which enables customers to order directly through restaurants’ own channels.
“We are pleased to announce that we expect to launch in around 100 new towns and cities across the UK and expand our reach in existing areas throughout 2021 with the aim of reaching almost two thirds of the population,” says Deliveroo chief business officer UKI Carlo Mocci.
“With further lockdown measures now in place across the UK, we want to do everything possible to help households get the food they need and want and play our role to make sure families across the country have a wide selection of amazing food, drink and household products to order in as little as 30 minutes.”
Deliveroo now operates in almost 800 towns and cities across 12 markets, including Australia, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and the UK.
