PizzaExpress has thrown its hat into the DIY pizza kit category with the first make-at-home kit in the brand’s 56-year history.

Available from 11 January 2021, for a limited period only, the kits give customers the chance to create one of two of the high street pizza chains best-selling recipes at home: its margherita or American Hot. The company is also offering the option for consumers to go 50/50 and have both toppings with their order.

The kits are priced at £14 for the margherita and £16 excluding delivery for the American Hot and contain enough dough to make two 14-inch Romana pizzas, as well as a tin of the brand’s passata, mozzarella, herbs and spices and in the case of the American Hot also pepperoni, and hot green roquito peppers.

Kits can be delivered nationwide and will be available through website greatfood2u.co.uk. They will include a branded pizza cutter available on a first come first served basis while stocks last.

“We are delighted to be launching these brand-new kits, giving our loyal customers the chance to recreate two of our most popular recipes whilst we’re all at home,” says Zoe Bowley, managing director at PizzaExpress.

“Since launching our Homemade Favourites series last year, it has been wonderful to see so many people recreate their favourite recipes, in the restaurant style that they know and love.

“With these kits we aim to make that even easier, particularly by providing our delicious dough, which has been perfected over 56 years. We’ll be delivering the very same ingredients we use in our pizzerias so that the PizzaExpress experience can still be enjoyed wherever you are.”

The company is the latest of the high street brands to enter in the DIY meal kit market. Today (8 January) healthy fast food group Leon launches its first at-home burger kit. Created in partnership with plant-based food brand Meatless Farm, the new kit contains everything required to make its popular vegan LOVe Burger.
