Dayashankar Sharma to open Heritage in West Dulwich next year

Called Heritage, the 48-cover restaurant will draw on Sharma’s 30 years of culinary experience including at Michelin-starred Tamarind and Zaika in Kensington.

It will serve regional small plates, kebabs, tikkas and curry dishes with signature dishes to include char-grilled truffle murgh kebab, vegetarian and vegan options such as broccoli ke kofte, and Indian breads like the gruyere and chilli naan.

“This food is very close to my heart. I have spent many years developing dishes that my mother taught me as a child, and taken inspiration from my early career at some of the finest establishments in India and Sri Lanka,” says Sharma, who opened Grand Trunk Road restaurant​​ in London’s South Woodford in late 2016 alongside restaurateur Rajesh Suri.

“This restaurant is about exploring the myriad cuisines of regional Indian, and sharing that heritage with our customers”.

Heritage will have a drinks menu of Indian-inspired alcoholic and zero-proof drinks, wines and a number of Indian whiskies and beers.

Alongside in-restaurant dining it will offer takeaway and home delivery across south east London.

“Our goal is to transform the idea of classical Indian cuisine passed down through the generations by bringing our customers an innovative and elevated take on the dishes we know and love,” says general manager Saurav Rai.

“We are incredibly excited to be launching Heritage in the heart of West Dulwich and bringing something positive to the local community at such a difficult time.”
