Tin Can Kitchen opens second Newport location with further growth planned
Food delivery service Tin Can Kitchen has launched a second shipping container kitchen in Newport as it pushes ahead with plans to open the city's 'first outdoor street food court'.

Al Forno will serve a street food menu of stone-baked pizzas featuring traditional toppings including primavera; and spinach and ricotta.

There will also be several fusion-inspired twists such as the ‘Peking Pizza’ with chicken, peppers, spring onion and hoisin glaze; and the ‘Chilli Con Carnival’ featuring beef chilli, mozzarella, pepperoncini, red onion and roquito peppers.

A Christmas-inspired pigs in blankets pizza with sausage, bacon and sage will also be available, alongside a range of sides including parmesan fries and chicken wings.

“We’re extremely proud of the menu we’ve come up with – especially the pizzas – and we hope that it’s just as popular as the original Tin Can Kitchen menu,” says co-owner Jordan Phillips.

The original Tin Can Kitchen was established earlier this year, and serves a menu of Cajun-inspired burgers; American-style hot dogs; and Mexican burritos.

From January, Al Forno will also double-up as a takeaway sandwich shop and bakery.

The owners are already planning to open a third shipping container kitchen in early 2021, with the end goal of setting up what they claim will be Newport’s first outdoor food court, bar and music venue.

“Launching Tin Can Kitchen at the height of the pandemic was tough, but we pushed forward as we believe in what we have to offer and are determined to realise our original vision," says co-owner Barry Fallon.

"We’re all passionate about food – street food in particular – and want to share our passion with the rest of Newport.

"The food scene in Newport is buzzing at the moment, and we want to be a big part of the action."
