Using its own boat Rockfisher, which will take to the southern coast waters whenever the weather permits, the seafood-focused restaurant group will sell it catch at its market, located besides Brixham fish market.
The move follows the onset of the second lockdown in England, which has forced restaurants to close until 2 December at the earliest.
The fish is available for click and collect Wednesday to Saturday with the Rockfish website updated every morning with the day’s landings. Orders can be placed from 7am up until 4pm with fish able to be collected fish any time on the same day from 9am-7pm.
“It feels like going back to the very beginning of my seafood journey,” says Rockfish co-founder Mitch Tonks,
“We will be fully operational in a few weeks and I can’t wait for that.”
Earlier this year Rockfish reported sales in some sites post the first lockdown had equalled that of last year and overall like-for-like sales were only 7% below last summer’s trading, despite social distancing measures reducing the number of covers in every restaurant.
Post lockdown the full shop operation will open.
