The owner of the German Doner Kebab brand has entered the UK’s healthy eating market with the launch of salad-focused fast casual brand Choppaluna in Bloomsbury.

Hero Brands says its latest creation - which was mooted a year ago and officially opened this week - is set to ‘transform and revolutionise the healthy eating space’.

“Choppaluna is here to show that salads don’t have to be boring and to bring customers a guilt-free indulgent menu of vegetarian and vegan options, and a huge choice of superfoods morning, noon and night,” the press materials read.

The brand is takeaway and delivery focused so will be able to continue trading when lockdown kicks in on Thursday.

There’s also a breakfast menu that includes low-carb, high energy options like scrambled egg wraps (“Breggfast Rolls”) and smoothie bowls.

Also available are Choppaluna’s ‘Big-Rolls’ which are billed as being a cross between a salad and a burrito.

It hopes to open a second Choppaluna in Berlin by January next year before ‘embarking on further sites in London and UK growth throughout the next 12 months’.

Customers can choose from over 60 fresh toppings before watching staff chop them ‘live’.

Hero Brands has rolled out German Doner Kebab at pace by way of a franchise model since arriving on these shores in 2016 with 47 currently trading.

“Hero Brands is responding to emerging consumer trends and focused on growing the brands of the future," says Hero Brand CEO Athif Sarwar.

“Eating-out is changing and younger consumers are demanding a shorter dwell time, great-tasting healthier food and an aspirational-experience that is shareable on their social channels."
