Restaurateur Markus Thesleff is to open a Mexican and Japanese restaurant in Notting Hill next month.

Los Mochis will serve classic MexiCali dishes combined with Asian ingredients with a menu that will feature tacos, ceviches, tostadas, tiraditos and quesadillas as well as a selection of maki rolls.

The highlight of the menu will be the restaurant’s 22-strong ‘Gangster Taco’ menu featuring the likes of the Trailer Park KFC - Korean Fried Chicken, Napa cabbage, jalapeno, spicy pickled cucumber, pico de gallo, pickled onions, cheese, poblano sauce – and the Miso Black Cod, with den miso, pickled cabbage and crispy onions.

Los Mochis will be open for breakfast, with early morning options including an acai bowl of banana, apple, chia seeds, cacao nibs, goji berries and toasted coconut; and truffled scrambled eggs.

Tequila will also play a key role in the new restaurant, which claims to boast one of the most interesting selections of small batch artisanal agaves in the capital.

Once open, the restaurant will operate a 'Los Mochis Gives Back project, where the restaurant provide a meal for the less fortunate and vulnerable for every one purchased by a guest.

Described as being 'elegant yet relaxed, cool yet friendly, edgy yet approachable,' the restaurant will be split over two floors, with a ground floor dining room (below) and a first-floor lounge with a design that is said to combine elements of 'rustic Mexican culture with elegant, sophisticated Japanese touches'.

Los Mochis marks a return to the capital for Thesleff, who made a name for himself as a restaurateur in the Middle East with his restaurant concepts OKKU - named after the nickname his nanny gave him when he was three-months old - and CLAW.
