London’s The Connaught has opened a standalone patisserie at the side of the luxury hotel on Mayfair’s Mount Street.

Called The Connaught Patisserie, the new space will showcase executive pastry chef Nicolas Rouzaud and his team’s cakes and pastries as well as serve coffee, artisan tea and champagne. Boxed celebratory cakes will also be available to take home.

Delicacies available from the white marble counter include pain au chocolat, loaf cakes and ‘gâteaux de voyage’ – cakes historically designed to last throughout long pilgrimages – from lemon madeleines to walnut financiers and chouquettes,

The counter is also home to 10 seasonal patisserie, including classics such as Paris-brest, apple tatin and St Honoré as well as more contemporary cakes such as a yuzu eclair, a mango and passion fruit mousse cake, and a chocolate tonka tart.

The patisserie will also sell The River Café’s famous Chocolate Nemesis - the first time the cake has been available outside of the Hammersmith restaurant - which will be hand delivered daily.

Launching today (12 October) The Connaught Patisserie has been designed by London-based design studio Ab Rogers Design and features Rosa Tea pink marble floors, pink polished walls, body-hugging chairs, circular marble tables, hand-blown hot pink crystal lights and bronze details.

“It has always been our goal to open this little jewel of a Patisserie at this special location, and I’m so happy to be doing it at this time for our Mayfair neighbours, and London community,” says owner Paddy McKillen.

“Never have we needed the joy and comfort of cakes more. The involvement of the Rogers family is particularly special for me.”
