Husband and wife team Matin and Michelle Miah’s new 50-cover restaurant will be located in Market Row. It will be split across two levels and offer indoor and outdoor table service.
The menu at Brixton will feature Rudie’s ‘real jerk’, with meats and fish marinated for 24 hours before being grilled and smoked slowly over charcoal in a steel drum. Traditional Jamaican street food dishes will feature, including jerk chicken, curry goat and fried sweet plantain.
“This is a very personal launch for us. Having spent a lot of my childhood days in Brixton with my Jamaican grandma, I know that authenticity and flavour is key when serving Jamaican dishes,” says Michelle.
“Matin and I have spent years travelling to Jamaica, researching, tasting and trying as much as possible and we are so proud of what we have created. I can’t wait to bring our take on Jerk the people of Brixton to try it.”
The new restaurant will join the pair’s two grab-and-go Rudie’s Jerk Shacks at Boxpark Shoreditch and Borough Market and will mark a return to the full-service format that the restaurant operated from its now closed restaurant Rudie’s Dalston.
