Thai restaurant group Giggling Squid will open its biggest restaurant to date next week in Cambridge.

Opening on Monday 28 September, the restaurant takes the brand closer to its 40 restaurant landmark as the 37th in the group.

Located in The Old Library on the city’s Wheeler Street, the new restaurants will have a capacity for 150 covers.

From Monday, it will operate for dine in and takeaway – via Deliveroo – and will be running a 50% discount offer in its first seven days of opening.

“In undoubtedly challenging times for the hospitality industry, we’re delighted we are in a position to open a new restaurant,” says co-founder Andy Laurillard. “The new location in Cambridge will be our biggest and reflects our determination to continue with our ambitious business expansion plans.”

“It is really important to me that people feel welcomed and at home in our restaurants,” added co-founder Pranee Laurillard. “Every Giggling Squid is a true labour of love and has my own personal touch to it.

“The Old Library is a spectacular space and it has been fantastic to add our Giggling Squid touch to this magnificent building.”

In July, the group secured a £5m loan through Barclays, and has since reopened its entire estate.
