North Indian restaurant brand Hankies has relocated its third London restaurant to Paddington, having been forced to close its Haymarket site due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Described at the time as being the group's new flagship restaurant, Hankies Haymarket only opened back in February this year, but was forced to close within a month of its launch as a result of the Covid-19 lockdown.

The site has since shut permanently, and Hankies has now relaunched the restaurant across town on Paddington's Westbourne Terrace.

Founded in 2017 by former Benares chef Anirudh Arora, Hankies opened its first site on Shaftesbury Avenue in 2017, and followed it up with a second in Marble Arch a year later.

The restaurant specialises in roomali roti - hand spun wheat flatbreads - that are folded into ‘hankies’ and served alongside a wide range of Indian small plates.

Food at the new Westbourne Terrace restaurant will be similar to that of its older siblings, but with ‘somewhat lighter flavours’.

Sample dishes include ‘fruits de mer’ popcorn - snow crab, shrimps, sago seeds and lemon and coriander dip; wild mushroom kachori; butter chicken; and chilli lamb chops marinated in Kashmiri chillies and honey.

Prices are competitive, with the majority of dishes priced between £5.50 and £8 and cocktails from £6. The whole menu is available for delivery or collection.

Hankies Westbourne Terrace is open now from Monday to Sunday 12pm-3pm and from 5.45pm- 11pm.
