The group behind luxury hotels Cliveden House and Chewton Glen will open its latest venue, in Mayfair, this autumn.

Called The Mayfair Townhouse, the boutique high-end neighbourhood property will be the fifth hotel in Iconic Luxury Hotels’ portfolio and will overlook London’s Green Park.

The hotel’s style, which is described as ‘Oscar Wilde meets Alice in Wonderland’, takes inspiration from the original inhabitants of the area, including Wilde, as well as ‘the flamboyant aesthetic movement of that period’.

It has been designed to ‘bridge the gap between ritzy high-end lavish hotels and the corporate enterprise properties that currently stand in Mayfair’, according to the company.

The hotel will feature the Dandy Bar cocktail bar as well as a dining area on its lower ground floor.

“There is nothing like The Mayfair Townhouse. When the property debuts in Autumn 2020, you will see something that has not yet been done,” says Andrew Stembridge, executive director at Iconic Luxury Hotels.

“We’re looking to give London and travellers from all over the world, something fresh, something totally different and something totally unexpected... we look forward to creating remarkable memories in the heart of Mayfair.”

Founded in December 2016, Iconic Luxury Hotels is part of L+R Hotels, a family-owned global hotel investment and management company that has a portfolio of more than 90 hotels.

Other hotels in its portfolio include The Lygon Arms, a 14th Century Coaching Inn in the Cotswolds, 11 Cadogan Gardens in Chelsea, and Hotel Excelsior in Italy.
