Chinese street food restaurant Murger Han has secured its third London opening, taking over the former Spice Trader site on Philpot Lane in The City.

Due to launch in the autumn, it will be the group's first City location, and sits opposite the 20 Fenchurch Street skyscraper.

The 1,000sq ft site will hold 54 covers in a main dining room, with a further 10 seats available in a heated terrace area.

It will also feature an open kitchen, where diners can watch Murger Han's 'signature' 12ft Biang Biang noodles being hand-pulled.

Specialising in the food of Xi’an city in China, the menu also features the eponymous murger (slow-cooked meat served in a flat bread). Fillings include pork; and spicy beef with peppers and cumin.

New for the City branch will be a daily Xi’an breakfast menu; a selection of Xi’an-inspired cocktails served from a dedicated bar; and a dedicated “Muslim Street Market” menu of traditional street dishes.

"I started Murger Han to educate and provide Londoners with authentic Xi’an cuisine and the third location allows us to develop our menu and continue my dream," says

owner and head chef Bin Li.

"The new breakfast dishes, opening earlier, also expanding into a new neighbourhood in London, all give us more opportunity to serve proper eastern food to a western global market.

Li opened the first Murger Han restaurant in Euston back in 2014; and opened a second site in Mayfair in 2016.
