Nathan Outlaw’s casual (but still Michelin-starred) Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen restaurant is Port Isaac in to re-open later this week with just three tables.

Prior to its closure in March the diminutive North Cornwall venue had eight tables but under current Covid-19 safety measures it can now only seat a maximum of 15 covers over three tables.

Speaking to BigHospitality last month, Outlaw said that he wasn’t sure when the restaurant would re-open and that he was considering opening it for private parties only.

The menu will be fixed at £80 per person with a selection of dishes cooked each day for people on each table to share.

“It’s a tricky enough space to operate within at the best of times, and normally with just eight tables you need to be busy for the numbers to stack up and make the business viable," says Outlaw.

"Obviously, with the restrictions in place and the need for mitigating measures by restaurants, we were left contemplating the future of the Outlaw's Fish Kitchen.”

The pandemic has caused the highly-rated seafood chef to totally change his operations. Last month it was announced that his two-star flagship Nathan Outlaw would become the ‘more inclusive and accessible' Outlaw's New Road and the team has also branched into takeaway with Outlaw’s To Go.

“We felt while our efforts were focused on launching Outlaw’s New Road and Outlaw’s To Go, it was best to keep Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen on the back burner until we better understood what the possibilities were there."

"Having run Outlaw’s New Road for a month now with mitigating measures in place, we’re confident we can safely open Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen.""

We’re excited to get back in the kitchen to be honest, and as we’ve no shortage of amazing seafood and produce around at the moment we know our regulars and new diners are going to experience the best of what we can do out of the tiny kitchen.”

Housed within a 15th century fishermen’s cottage, Outlaw's Fish Kitchen opened in 2013 and has built its reputation on cooking small plates of seafood, with daily changing menus.
