Kitchen Table to takeover Bubbledogs space

James Knappett and Sandia Chang’s diminutive Fitzrovia fine dining restaurant Kitchen Table is to expand into the space that was previously home to their Champagne and hot dog concept Bubbledogs.

The move secures the future of the two Michelin-starred, 15-cover Kitchen Table, which would have been nearly impossible to run profitably with Covid-19 safety measures in place.

Bubbledogs will continue its legacy online, evolving into the recently announced Bubbleshop by Sandia Chang, a one-stop-online-shop delivering the most sought-after bottles of grower Champagne nationwide.

Both spaces - which launched in 2012 after the couple received backing from JKS Restaurants - will undergo an extensive refurbishment in order to expand and develop the Kitchen Table experience.

A new lounge and bar in the space that once housed Bubbledogs - another tightly proportioned space that would have been a challenge to operate profitably post-lockdown - will complement the existing Kitchen Table counter dining space to the rear of the site with guests encouraged to 'enjoy an extended stay of indulgent dining, fine wines and cocktails across two unique spaces'.

Kitchen Table’s reopening date, and more details on its new guise will be announced ‘very soon’.

The couple are also upping the ante on off premises dining with the launch of & Home. From 5 August, Kitchen Table will be offering a £75 per person 7-course menu and a 11-course menu including a bottle of grower Champagne priced at £125 per person.

Kitchen Table-inspired add-ons will also be available alongside the chosen menu and - in keeping with the restaurant’s reputation for food and wine matching - & Home boxes enable guests to add their preferred wines and Champagnes, selected by Chang.

“Thank you for inviting us into your home. Though we’re currently unable to host you at Kitchen Table, Sandia and I hope to continue doing what we love: celebrating exceptional produce, and sharing good food and wine,” says Knappett.

“The & Home by James Knappett menu boxes bring a celebration of fine dining cooking to your own kitchen table. Using the same independent and trusted suppliers who have been the cornerstone of Kitchen Table since its opening, James has designed an accessible tasting menu to be finished at home.”

The monthly-changing menus will be available across London for delivery on Fridays only. Orders must be placed before midnight the previous Sunday.
