The restaurant, which first opened in 2018, had focused on a communal dining table but will be redesigned to feature individual tables in light of the Government’s Coronavirus guidelines to reopening.
Dubbed Mãos 2.0, the restaurant the restaurant will be open for evening service with a maximum of eight guests in the main dining room. There will now be a place setting directly on the pass within the main dining room for solo diners.
The restaurant will also for the first time have a chef’s table that is situated directly off of the kitchen in a private dining room for seating up to six guests.
Run by executive chef Edoardo Pellicano, the kitchen will serve a 14-course menu.
From August Mãos will also launch a monthly membership programme, offering benefits such as advance reservations, access to members only workshops and talks, exclusive lunch bookings as well as a monthly membership box. The box will include seasonal produce, house made provisions and condiments well as access to a monthly video demo from Pellicano.
“We are delighted to be reopening next month, we opened Mãos with the intention of redefining what it means to visit a restaurant, and we’ve used our time away to reconsider every element of the dining experience,” says founder James Brown.
“We look forward to welcoming our regulars and immersing them in our new and improved world.”
Maos, which means ‘hands’ in Portuguese, was opened by Brown and chef Nuno Mendes as a single 16-seat communal table within hybrid gallery and retail space Blue Mountain School in 2018. Mendes left the restaurant earlier this year.
