Pet hate in the kitchen?
Laziness. Give it 100% or don’t bother. Food deserves that.

Sum up your cooking style in a single sentence.
I’m still learning what that is. The minute you think you know, you’ve given up.

What’s your biggest regret?
Not spending more time learning the classics.

Which single item of kitchen equipment could you not live without?
A sharp knife.

What’s the dish you wish you’d thought of?
Deciding to Roast Woolly Mammoth instead of eating it raw. It’s all been beautiful plagiarism since!

MasterChef or Great British Menu?
I like them both for different reasons, don’t make me choose... ok, Great British Menu because I don’t have to shout at Greg Wallace.

Most overrated food?
Poke

Who would your dream dinner party guests be?
My family, they’re always the best company.

What’s your earliest food memory?
Eating an artichoke in the Piccolo Mondo in Bourne End. Sadly it’s not there anymore.

Tipple of choice?
Water, I've been sober a looong time.

Favourite food and drink pairing?
Affogato. Freshly churned vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso. No better end to dinner, even after pudding.

Where will be your first meal out post lockdown?
Bentley’s, sitting at the oyster bar eating from the blackboard menu. It always delivers.

How are you keeping busy?
Trying to keep a pulse in Homeslice and working out everyday.

Houseparty or Zoom?
Zoom. We have a Homeslice quiz every Tuesday - Amy (head of operations) wins pretty much every week, which is not fair!

What boxset are you watching?
Just finished Hollywood on Netflix. It was very good!

What’s the one ingredient you always have in your kitchen at home?
Green Tabasco; not technically an ingredient, but it can be and has magical properties.

What one ingredient would you stockpile?
Good butter. I get anxious if there’s less than two packs in the fridge.
