Chiktopia enters liquidation
According to a notice posted yesterday (10 June) on public record The Gazette, the business appointed Steven Ross and Matthew Higgins of RSM as liquidators late last month.
The decision to enter liquidation was made voluntarily, with the winding-up notice saying the company could not, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business.
Chiktopia, which launched its debut location at Intu Lakeside in July last year, was led by former Ole & Steen UK operation director Alastair Gordon, and advised by a group of senior industry figures including Dan Einzig, founder of Mystery Design; Mark Lilley, CEO of Abokado; and Richard Morris, managing director of Tortilla.
The 120-cover restaurant served a fast food menu of South American-style chicken that was available either deep-fried or grilled.
Options included a range of burgers, wraps, salads and tenders, the latter of which was served with Louisiana-style American biscuits.
Prior to its opening, the restaurant had said it was 'on a mission to marry outstanding taste with the latest technology'.
The site was designed as a ‘counter-less restaurant environment’, with all orders taken via an app or at a kiosk.
At the time the business said the model was designed to 'give customers the best possible user experience'.
