KFC has now reopened more than two thirds of its UK estate.

The fried chicken chain closed all 950 of its UK sites back in March as a result of the Coronavirus shutdown.

However, the group confirmed on social media last Friday (29 May) that 700 of its restaurants had now reopened, each one serving a limited menu.

In a Tweet, the fast food giant said: "We've reached the milestone of 700 restaurants reopened responsibly across the UK & Ireland.

"As well as delivery and drive-thru, over half of those are now back open for takeaway too."

Having initially only reopened for either drive-thru or delivery, KFC begun trialling walk-ins at a select number of its sites last month.

Social distancing guidance will be clearly marked on the floor of all sites offering takeaway to help guide customers, with a limit on the number of people who can be in a restaurant at any one time being enforced.

There will also be separate queues for collection and delivery; and Perspex screens will be in place at ordering and pick-up points.

In the kitchens, social distancing measures have also been put in place to help protect staff while on shift.

They include placing tape on the floor to create designated working zones that are two metres apart; and having just one person operating each station, with the limited menu preventing the need for staff to cross between stations.
