Honest Burgers has launched a chicken-focused sister concept out of its restaurant in London's King’s Cross.

Called Honest Chicken, the group says the new brand is 'powered by the same things that make the original so popular'.

The menu features four free-range chicken burger options, and follows years of work years perfecting the brine, spices, flour combinations and cooking methods to 'ensure each burger is crispy, juicy and golden'.

Options include a classic chicken burger made with a free-range chicken thigh fried in a buttermilk coating and topped with American cheese, chipotle mayo, lettuce and pickles; and a Thai-style chicken burger made in collaboration with London-based street food operator Wingmans, which features a free-range buttermilk fried chicken thigh coated with a honey sriracha glaze and topped with Thai slaw, crispy shallots, American cheese, ranch mayo, and lettuce.

As with the Honest Burgers menu, all burgers will be served with rosemary salted chips.

Initially operating as a takeover of the Honest Burgers restaurant in King’s Cross, the group says plans are already in place to open further Honest Chicken sites in the future.

“Honest Chicken has been in the making for years now, pretty much since we launched our first fried chicken burger," says Honest Burgers co-founder Tom Barton.

"The food is a mash-up of all the free-range chicken greats from Honest Burgers, with some brand new dishes just for Honest Chicken.

"It’s powered by all the same things as Honest Burgers: great British produce, homemade food, a simple menu, no fuss and great value.”

Last week BigHospitality reported that following a successful trial, Honest Burgers was planning to re-open the majority of its 38-strong estate for delivery by the end of May.

The group initially begun re-opening its sites earlier this month with a wide range of safety measures in place, including pre-shift temperature checks, social distancing where possible and the wearing of PPE.
