Seven additional food boxes have been added to the offering, including a meat-selection box from The Ginger Pig; a BBQ box from Essex butchers Hepburns; and a seasonal veg box from New Covent Garden Market-based supplier Premier Fruits.
The reach of the service has also been extended. Having initially launched within the M25, the service is now available to consumers in Brighton and Oxford.
Feed Britain was created to provide a route to market for restaurant and catering suppliers whose revenues have been severely impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus crisis.
“We launched Feed Britain to get food to people who need it most, and we’re pleased to be expanding the number of boxes to offer more choice from artisan farmers and producers,” says Feed Britain MD Shereen Ritchie.
“In the longer term, we hope we can build Feed Britain into a successful business that continues to deliver everyone great, seasonal produce, and restaurant quality meals.”
All profits from Feed Britain are currently being donated to the FeedNHS initiative, which Leon has spearheaded alongside actors Helen McCrory, Damian Lewis and Matt Lucas.
The aim of the campaign is to raise funds in order to help feed NHS workers one hot healthy meal each day. It has so far raised more than £1.2m.
