A new ordering system will allow guests to order food and pay for it online then collect it from outside of one of 24 TGI Fridays sites.
Launching next Wednesday (6 May), the click and collect service appears to only be available for people arriving by car, with customers asked to park up in designated areas, call a designated phone number and open their boot.
A TGI Fridays team member will then bring their order out from the restaurant in sealed bags and place in the boot without touching the car.
Home delivery will be fulfilled by either Deliveroo or Just Eat depending on the location.
An abridged menu made up of 22 of the American-themed brand’s dishes will be available, covering a range of appetisers, mains, desserts and kids’ options.
“We can’t wait to re-fire the grills in preparation for the launch of our new Click & Collect service in 24 selected locations,” says TGI Fridays CEO Robert B. Cook.
“These initial sites have been chosen as we either own and can control the car park or the landlord has given us dedicated access.
“We will continue to monitor UK Government advice but after an initial trial we aim to extend the rollout as soon as it is safe to do so.”
TGI Fridays is one of a number of major national restaurant brands to start to re-open for off-premises sales.
Other brands opening parts of their estates include Burger King, Wagamama, Paul, Five Guys and KFC. The latter expects to have 100 of its sites open for delivery by next week.
